The natural surface is left intact. Thick enough to seat two rows of solid brass spikes through without splitting, and stiff enough that the strap holds its shape on a 60 pound dog. Part B Double Row of Spikes Two parallel rows of solid brass spikes run the full length of the strap, not one. Each spike is set by hand through the full thickness of the leather and clinched flat on the back. The double row is why the Legion reads as serious from across a parking lot. Part C Rounded for Safety Every spike tip is rounded and dulled by hand before the collar leaves the bench. Sharp enough to look the part from a few feet away.
